Walking water

"My feet hurt!" I thought, as I tried to turn off my alarm just one more time. I clenched my hand into a fist, trying to turn off the alarm using sheer force. It didn't go off again, and when I finally did wake up I discovered little pieces of it on the floor. Little, sharp, painful pieces of it on the floor. Little sharp painful pieces that REALLY hurt to step on; I soon discovered. Time to get moving, though, I thought to myself. As I picked up my cart for the seventh time, I realized how much better off the people in america have it, getting their water delivered to them. At least, though, the water we walk miles to get is clean. People have it worse off. Even some people in america, who don't even have a HOME. I thought that we had all the problems here, but when you think about it, life is ok. No matter where you are, there IS a way. "Whatever!" I thought. "I sound just like my social studies teacher." Time to get some water.

Kiva Blog Entry 6: Time to go? already?!

It seems like I just got here, but it's already time to go! We said our goodbyes, and I boarded the airplane. Midway through the flight I realized that the vegetable-banana-thing didn't really agree with me. "This'll be a long flight," I thought to myself.

Kiva Blog Entry 5: Visit

Together, Maria and I went rafting for a day, which was a once in a lifetime experience. The water was rushing, the spray on my face; racing down the river. Maria then cooked a meal for the both of us, which was very good. I never KNEW bananas could be prepared that way! And the vegetable... thing, which I forgot the name of, was very good.

Kiva blog entry 4: Visit

It seemed that I had just fallen asleep when the plane arrived at Cusco, Peru
. I stepped outside, and the first thing I noticed was the size of the airport. It was tiny! Especially compared to LAX, which is where I left from. After going through customs, I found Maria. ¡Hola! I said, which is spanish for hi. She greeted me back, and we went to her store, and she showed me the merchandise that the loan helped her buy. I could see that without that loan, her business would have failed completely.
